Corporate Carbon Accounting & Science-Based Climate Strategy Creating a corporate carbon footprint in accordance with international standards such as the GHG Protocol or ISO 14064 enables companies to calculate and manage both direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions across their entire value chain. The first step in carbon accounting involves defining the company’s organizational structure, including any subsidiaries. Scope 2 : Indirect emissions from the consumption of purchased energy, such as electricity, heating, or cooling sourced from external providers.
