Decarbonization Strategy
We accompany you on the way to a carbon footprint in Scope 1, 2 and 3, which provides the basis for calculating and monitoring direct and indirect greenhouse gases and reducing emissions.
Corporate Carbon Accounting & Science-Based Climate Strategy
Creating a corporate carbon footprint in accordance with international standards such as the GHG Protocol or ISO 14064 enables companies to calculate and manage both direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions across their entire value chain. This process – also known as Corporate Carbon Accounting – provides a transparent overview of all climate-relevant emissions associated with the company.

The first step in carbon accounting involves defining the company’s organizational structure, including any subsidiaries. This is followed by the collection of climate-relevant emissions data across Scope 1, 2, and 3 categories. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) is the most widely recognized global standard for accounting and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. It classifies emissions into three "Scopes":

-
Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, such as emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels or company vehicles.
-
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the consumption of purchased energy, such as electricity, heating, or cooling sourced from external providers.
-
Scope 3: All other indirect emissions that occur along the company’s value chain – including the production of raw materials, business travel, or waste disposal.
unfold consulting supports you in collecting relevant data for all three scopes and provides data templates to ensure a systematic and traceable data collection process. The gathered data is then validated and reviewed collaboratively with your team. Based on this, your company's greenhouse gas potential is calculated according to the GHG Protocol and documented in a transparent and comprehensible manner.

Science-Based Climate Targets

Science-Based Targets are a central pillar of a credible and future-proof climate strategy. We support you in developing targets aligned with the latest findings in climate science and the 1.5 °C goal of the Paris Agreement. From emissions analysis and target setting to submission to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – we guide you through every step, hands-on, transparently, and tailored to your specific business model. This not only ensures regulatory compliance but also positions you as a responsible and forward-looking company.
